This contemporary bread basket is carefully woven by hand by one of over 600 women artisans who earn fair and reliable incomes with WomenCraft in Tanzania. White threads of upcycled “Gunia” grain sacks are intricately woven into the natural grasses. „Mkate“ means „bread“ in Swahili, the national language of Tanzania. As such, the bread baskets are ideal for serving fresh warm bread but can also be used as a decorative way to store smaller household items.
